Chalk Farm Carpet Cleaners Terms and Conditions

Carpet cleaning service team preparing equipment for a UK bookingThese Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Chalk Farm Carpet Cleaners provides domestic and commercial carpet cleaning services in the UK. By making a booking, the customer agrees to be bound by these terms, which are intended to be clear, fair, and consistent with applicable consumer and business law. These terms apply to all standard carpet cleaning services, including stain treatment, spot cleaning, and related upholstery or fabric care where agreed in advance.

For the purposes of these terms, references to “we”, “us”, and “our” mean Chalk Farm Carpet Cleaners, and references to “you” and “your” mean the person or business booking the service. The agreement is formed once a booking is accepted by us, whether that acceptance is made by email, telephone, online form, or another confirmed method. Any special requests or non-standard requirements must be agreed in writing before the appointment.

Professional carpet cleaning appointment confirmation and schedulingThese terms should be read together with any written quotation, booking confirmation, invoice, or service notes provided before or after the appointment. In the event of inconsistency, the specific written agreement relating to the booked service will take priority over these general terms, except where the law requires otherwise.

Booking Process

All bookings for carpet cleaning services are subject to availability. A request for service is not a binding commitment until we confirm the appointment and, where applicable, receive any required deposit or pre-authorisation. We may ask for details such as the number of rooms, the type of carpet or fabric, the level of soiling, access conditions, parking restrictions, and any known stains or damage. This helps us assess the job properly and provide an appropriate quotation.

You must ensure that the information provided at the time of booking is accurate and complete. If the actual condition of the carpets or the working environment differs materially from the information supplied, we may revise the quotation, adjust the scope of work, or decline to proceed if it is unsafe or impractical to continue. Any revised price will be communicated before work starts wherever reasonably possible.

Technician assessing carpet condition before cleaning treatmentIf an appointment requires moving furniture, special equipment, or additional time, this must be agreed in advance. The service may be limited where access is restricted, where water or electricity supplies are unavailable, or where the property conditions make cleaning unsuitable. We reserve the right to refuse service if carrying out the work would create a risk to property, people, our staff, or our equipment.

Service Standards and Customer Responsibilities

We will provide the service with reasonable care and skill, using methods and products suitable for the agreed task. However, carpet cleaning outcomes may vary depending on fibre type, age, condition, prior treatment, wear, and the nature of any staining. Some marks may be permanent or may reappear after drying due to residues, wicking, or pre-existing damage.

You are responsible for removing fragile items, valuables, and breakables from the work area before the appointment. You should also advise us of any hidden hazards, loose flooring, electrical issues, water leaks, or delicate materials that may be affected by the work. Where furniture is moved as part of the job, we will do so with reasonable care, but we are not responsible for items that are unstable, improperly assembled, excessively heavy, or unsafe to move.

It is your responsibility to ensure that the property can be accessed at the agreed time. If we are unable to begin the work because of a delay, lack of access, incorrect address details, or missing keys, this may be treated as a late cancellation or failed appointment and charged accordingly. You should also ensure that pets and children are kept away from the working area for safety reasons.

Payments

Prices for Chalk Farm carpet cleaners services will be confirmed before work begins, unless the service is charged on a time-and-materials basis or subject to an agreed on-site assessment. Unless otherwise stated, prices are quoted in pounds sterling and may be subject to VAT where applicable. Any additional work requested during the appointment, or any extra charges arising from unforeseen conditions, will be discussed with you before proceeding.

Payment is due in accordance with the invoice or booking confirmation. We may require full payment in advance, a deposit, or payment on completion depending on the nature of the booking. Where payment is due on completion, it must be made immediately after the service unless another arrangement has been agreed in writing. We accept payment methods communicated at the time of booking, and we reserve the right to refuse cash handling where it is not operationally practical.

Late or non-payment may result in suspension of future services, recovery action, and reasonable administrative costs where permitted by law. If a payment card is declined, or if a bank transfer fails, you remain responsible for the outstanding amount. Any disputed invoice item should be raised promptly and in good faith, so that we can investigate and, where appropriate, correct any genuine error.

Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Missed Appointments

You may cancel or reschedule a booking by giving us reasonable notice. Unless a different notice period is stated in the booking confirmation, we ask for at least 48 hours’ notice. Where insufficient notice is given, we may charge a cancellation fee to cover reserved time, staff allocation, and any preparatory costs already incurred.

If you are a consumer and have booked remotely, your statutory rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations may apply in relation to cooling-off rights, subject to any lawful exceptions for services requested to start within the cancellation period. Where you ask us to begin work during the cancellation period, you may be required to acknowledge that you will lose the right to cancel once the service has been fully performed, or you may remain liable for a proportion of the service already provided if you cancel part-way through.

Service terms section covering cancellations and liabilityIf we need to cancel or reschedule, we will aim to give you as much notice as reasonably possible and offer an alternative appointment. We will not be liable for delay or cancellation caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, transport disruption, illness, accidents, supply failure, or access restrictions. If we have to cancel and cannot offer a suitable alternative, any prepayment for the affected appointment will be refunded for the unused portion of the service, subject to applicable law.

Liability and Limitations

We will take reasonable care to protect your property and complete the service professionally. However, carpet cleaning involves water, heat, pressure, agitation, and chemicals, and certain risks are inherent in the process. We are not liable for pre-existing faults, hidden defects, weakened fibres, poor previous repairs, colour instability, shrinkage caused by prior conditions, or damage resulting from failure to disclose material information.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we do not accept liability for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, business interruption, or emotional distress arising from the service. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded under UK law.

If we cause proven damage through our negligence, our liability will be limited to repairing the damage, repeating the service where appropriate, or paying the reasonable direct cost of remedy, subject to any applicable cap stated in the booking confirmation or invoice. You must notify us of any alleged damage or deficiency within a reasonable time and provide access for inspection. Failure to do so may affect our ability to investigate and may limit any remedy.

Stains, Results, and Aftercare

Final terms paragraph about governing law and customer agreementWe cannot guarantee complete removal of all stains, odours, or contamination. Some substances bond permanently to fibres, and some improvements may become visible only after drying. In certain cases, a stain may lighten rather than disappear entirely. By agreeing to the service, you acknowledge that professional carpet cleaning is a restorative process and not a promise of perfection.

Where stain removal products or specialist techniques are used, there may be additional risk to delicate fibres, dyes, or finishes. We will use reasonable skill and judgement, but you accept that some treatments may have limited success or may produce minor changes in appearance. You are responsible for following any aftercare instructions we provide, including drying times, ventilation, and avoiding foot traffic until the carpet is ready.

If you choose to use the treated area before it is fully dry, or if you apply third-party cleaners, deodorisers, or spot treatments after our visit, we will not be responsible for any resulting damage or change in appearance. Where underlay, subflooring, or pre-existing dampness affects drying or odour control, we are not liable for conditions beyond the surface cleaning work that was agreed.

Waste Regulations and Disposal

We comply with applicable UK waste handling and environmental requirements when removing or disposing of waste arising from our services. This may include used cleaning materials, packaging, vacuum contents, and contaminated residues produced during the work. We will manage waste in a responsible manner and in accordance with relevant legal obligations, including duties relating to safe handling, transport, and disposal where applicable.

You must tell us in advance if the property contains hazardous materials, biological contamination, asbestos, needles, or other regulated waste. We are not authorised to remove hazardous or controlled waste unless this has been expressly agreed and can lawfully be handled under the relevant regulations. If such materials are discovered during the service, we may suspend the work immediately and advise you to arrange specialist handling.

Any waste remaining at the property after completion of the service, including removed fibres, packaging, or unrelated household items, remains your responsibility unless we have specifically agreed to take it away. We may refuse to handle items that are unsafe, contaminated, or outside the scope of the cleaning service. You agree not to require us to act in a way that would breach environmental or waste disposal laws.

Complaints, Variation, and Termination

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the service, you should inform us as soon as reasonably possible so that we can assess the issue. We may ask for photographs, access for inspection, or reasonable opportunity to revisit the property. Any attempted remedy by a third party before we have had the chance to inspect may affect our ability to resolve the matter and may limit any available remedy.

We may update these terms from time to time. Any updated version will apply to bookings made after the date of revision, unless the change is required by law or is clearly stated to apply sooner. The terms in force at the time of booking will generally govern the service, unless a later written agreement replaces them.

We may terminate or suspend the service if you breach these terms, if the property conditions are unsafe, if abusive or threatening behaviour occurs, or if continuing would place staff or property at unreasonable risk. In such cases, we may charge for work already performed and reasonable costs incurred up to the point of termination, subject always to statutory consumer protections.

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

Service terms section covering cancellations and liabilityThese Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are based in Scotland or Northern Ireland, any mandatory local consumer protections that apply to your booking will still be respected where relevant. The parties agree that the courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

If any part of these terms is found to be unlawful, invalid, or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. No failure or delay by us in exercising any right or remedy under these terms shall operate as a waiver of that right or remedy.

Final terms paragraph about governing law and customer agreementBy booking with Chalk Farm Carpet Cleaners, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these service terms. These terms are intended to support a professional and transparent service relationship and to set clear expectations for booking, payment, cancellation, liability, waste handling, and legal responsibility in a manner consistent with UK law.
